Ikebana Professor Serapion S. Metilla will conduct a five-day course on the various styles and techniques of flower arrangement for all occasions. This will be held from July 19 to 23 at Mett’s Plant Arts, King Louis Garden Center, Manila Seedling Bank, Quezon City.
The sessions will be from 1 to 6 p.m. On the first day, he will discuss introduction to Ikebana with hands-on practice on Moribana and Shoka. On the second day, he will take up Western style with hands-on practice on All-around or One-sided and L-shape.
On the third day, it will be Western style with hands-on practice on Crescent shape, Hogarth line and flower shop operation. Day 4 will be devoted to free style, buffet or party centerpieces and garland making. On the last day, it will be corsage-bridal bouquet making and other wedding ensembles.
All materials will be provided, including pruning scissors, flower vases, floral foams, flowers, foliage, wires, etc. Handouts will also be provided.
On July 29 and 30, also from 1 to 6 p.m., Metilla will offer cement pot making which is now a money-making business. The advantages of cement pots are that they are durable and in two to three days, they can already be used unlike the clay pots which require a kiln to bake them. Participants will be allowed to make one bonsai pot, a flower vase and a cement stand. All materials will be provided.
Advance registration is required for the preparation of materials. Call tel. 939-4593; 435-2479 or 0917-832-1352 for more information.
