Winning NHA house designs

THE NATIONAL Housing Authority has announced the winners of its house design competition.

Three architecture students won first place.

The designs will be used for NHA’s north and south Luzon railway resettlement projects in the provinces of Bulacan and Laguna.

The first place winners were Edward Joseph Armada, Rose Ann Evangelista and Jasmine Soriano from the College of Architecture, Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

The second place winners were Jesus Surio, Melody Cruz, Ma. Rosalie Corazon Cruz, Anna Jane Cajayon and Mark Anthony de Leon from the Institute of Architecture & Fine Arts of Bulacan State University.

In third place were Carlos Lorenzo Tampus, Roland Vincent Mendoza, Allessandro Baluyut, Abraham Baunto and Francis Richard Ramos from the School of Architecture of Manuel L. Quezon University.

The design competition, which was launched as part of NHA’s 31st anniversary celebration, was aimed at encouraging the participation of individuals or groups of architecture-planning students for the 3rd, 4th and 5th year levels, who were endorsed by their respective schools.

The students designed a model unit for a 32 square meters lot using a maximum budget of P50,000, following the criteria of planning and design cost and provision for future expansion.

The students submitted scaled models and plan reports, which included design concept, estimates and specifications.

The Rail Linkage Project is composed of the Northrail and Southrail areas, are considered to be the flagship program of the Arroyo administration.
