Classique’s commercial furniture in international tradeshow

Over 5 Days during late October to early November 2006, Classique Leisure showcased its commercial furniture range when it joined 90 other Australian-owned companies in exhibiting the latest and greatest products destined for the Persian Gulf’s booming construction industry.

Over 42,000 key developers, architects, project managers and interior designers visited this international trade show, hosted by DMG World Media. This was 8,000 visitors above the forecasted total. Australia’s presence proved popular as the 4th largest contingent from the 2,892 companies representing 67 nations. Read more…

There are a lot of books out there that show you how to repair furniture. Tons of them, in fact. Most of them are very good, with instructions on how to repair well-made furniture built largely from solids, and give advice on white rings, iron stains and loose joints. But how does this help us, in an industry dominated by imports built from particleboard and resin? Professionals urged to reject sub-standard building materials

Professionals in the building and construction industry have been adviced against the use of sub-standard materials in building construction as may be demanded by property owners.

The Managing Director of Ntuzu Property Investments, Mr. Ozurinah Amos made the call during an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt last week.

Township defends building actions

The Michigan Bureau of Construction Codes has recommended Almont Township’s code enforcement authority be withdrawn.

The decision was made at a state hearing Jan. 10 in Lansing where local residents testified in front of the bureau and the state’s Construction Code Commission.

The same residents have been vocal at township meetings, criticizing the performance of former building inspector Paul Wilcox, who they say he didn’t inspect their homes properly. Within days of the hearing, the township filed an appeal, said township attorney Eric Knuth, who said the township still has code authority on an interim basis while the appeal is pending. Mission Bay construction booming

SAN FRANCISCO - It isn’t every day a city can watch a whole neighborhood, let alone a high-density downtown extension, spring up out as though the city was new. But that is happening in The City’s new biotech cradle, San Francisco’s Mission Bay Redevelopment Area.

Several private office, laboratory and residential projects were completed at the end of 2006 and construction began on others, with union construction workers, in the estimated “high hundreds,” employed on the work, Building and Construction Trades Council spokesman Michael Theriault said. Building in Groesbeck demolished to make room for construction of a new hospital

Construction crews demolished a building in Groesbeck Monday to make room for a new hospital.

Part of the old Limestone Medical Center, including emergency medical services came down.

Construction on a new $23 million, 60,000 square foot hospital begins next Monday.

Log Cabin Furniture restores 1928 building

Richard and Diana Carver began Log Cabin Furniture at Ponca in 1992. They began by selling small pieces of hand made furniture in a log cabin.
In April of 1996 they moved the business to the Harrison square and added other styles of furniture, but kept the name. Read more…
