The chic interior design is enhanced by tasteful contemporary works by Washington area artists. The most striking feature is the rooftop — a combination of open-air pool and terrace, along with a 12,000-square-foot enclosed entertainment, fitness and lounge area.

The apartments are at the western end of the pedestrian-friendly Reston Town Center, a multi-block mixed-use development that includes an outdoor shopping mall, homes, offices and outdoor entertainment space. The Exhibit House Announces Leadership Changes

Indianapolis-based The Exhibit House has named Mike Crosson as its president and CEO. Crosson previously served as CEO of retail strategy and design firm JGA. He succeeds Exhibit House owner Jeff Hoffman, who will become the company’s chairman. General Manager Jerry Frisby will continue his duties. The Exhibit House is a full service display and exhibit designer/builder.

Veteran visual and experiential design executive Mike Crosson has been named president and CEO of The Exhibit House, the national exhibit and display designer builder based here in Indianapolis.

Building Sructure: Site plan approved for computer design of potential structure in Medina Business Park

ALBION — The Orleans Economic Development Agency is planning a new building for the Medina Business Park.

But right now that facility, a proposed light manufacturing and warehousing business, is pixels on a screen because it is being virtually constructed for the time being, according to Village of Medina Zoning and Code Enforcement Officer Martin Busch.

“This is a unique project,” Busch said Thursday at the Orleans County Planning Board meeting. “It’s as much a marketing tool as it is a site plan. You will be able to virtually tour the building.” Read more…

American Institute of Architects: Building Design Leaders unite on energy reduction targets.

To reduce building design industry’s impact on environment, key leaders in sector are collaborating to establish carbon-neutral buildings by 2030. AIA, ASHRAE, Architecture 2030, IESNA, and USGBC, supported by representatives of DOE, finalized agreement of understanding, establishing common starting point and goal of net zero energy buildings. Agreement allows building sector to design buildings that use less energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

To reduce the building design industry’s impact on the environment, key leaders in that sector are collaborating to establish carbon-neutral buildings by the year 2030. Pisa Design Launches Mini-Magazine Context about Design, Home and Inspiration

Lisa Peck and Kristen Mengelkoch, partners in Pisa Design, are making Context, the team’s just-launched magazine on home, inspiration and design, available for download on the web. This issue of the magazine is titled Nesting.

Feature articles include “Wild Design,” an article about the courting rituals of the bowerbird. In the rainforest of eastern Australia interior design is for the birds. And nesting has taken on a whole different look. But this accomplished architect is not who you might expect.

Create a glorious gallery in your home

Some people go to the spa for rejuvenation, finding new energy in mud baths and seaweed wraps. I go to home furnishings markets. As I cruise each aisle, checking out what’s new and hot in home interior design, my step gets a little lighter and my outlook a little brighter.

But nothing gets my spirits soaring more than the Big Daddy of them all, the huge home furnishings market in High Point, N.C. High Point is aptly named, because it is always the high point of my year as a retail buyer. Interior design: Designing achievement
