furniture: Arts and Crafts Zone

The Arts and Crafts Zone located in the Central Hall of Modhesh Fun City hones children’s creativity. Offering activities such as drawing and colouring the Zone invites kids of all ages to spend quality time. Children can be seen involved in creative crafts using colourful strips of paper and cloth to make mats. It’s an engrossing activity and very rewarding too as at the end of the exercise a colourful mat emerges.

A very interesting addition to this Zone is the area called Under Construction where visitors get to make wooden furniture using the materials provided. Soft wood panels and boards are provided to the participants along with some tools like hammers and screwdrivers. Well, at home you may not want to hand over the carpenter’s tools to the little ones but here you can freely do so as there is an attendant on hand and you can also supervise and join in with your kids for this DIY or Do It Yourself session of furniture making. Children enjoy the activity especially when they are joined by their parents who in crafting the furniture items. Most of the participants prefer to make small stools and coffee tables in various shapes and sizes.

Also a part of the Arts and Crafts Zone is the puzzle corner where puzzles catering to children as young as three have been put up. From the simple puzzles to the more complicated ones for older children this corner has been receiving a lot of attention from passersby who like to try out the brain teasers. Another interesting area in this Zone is the Sand Colouring where youngsters are seen putting colour to their favourite characters. Needless to say Modhesh tops the list.

Perhaps the most popular activity in this zone is the bubble making. Toddlers are seen trying hard to make bubbles using rings from the soapy water filled up in tubs. It’s quite a sight to watch their parents too indulge in the activity with blissful abandon.

Running throughout the Dubai Summer Surprises from June 21 to August 31, the Modhesh Fun City is open to public from 10am to 10pm on weekdays and 10am to 11pm on Thursdays and Saturdays and 3pm to 11pm on Fridays. The entry tickets are priced at Dh 20 for kids, which also include some free rides and Dh 10 for adults.
