Int’l furniture and handicraft fair opens in HCM City
More than 300 domestic and foreign companies will attend an international furniture & handicraft fair – the HCM EXPO 2007 – in HCM City from October 10.
The businesses, including those from the UK, the US, France, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, India and Cambodia, are showcasing their indoor and outdoor furniture, handicrafts, ceramics, materials, wood processing machines and equipment at the fair’s 740 booths.
Viet Nam’s furniture and handicraft export turnover reached 1.7 billion USD in the first nine months of this year, representing a year-on-year increase of 24.8 percent. The figure for the year is estimated at 2.5 billion USD, up 29.5 percent against last year.
In 2006, the product ranked fifth among the country’s 10 key export items.
This is the fifth time the HCM City Trade Department has organised the annual event.
