The best furniture shops in Las Chafiras: La Carpintería

Easily accessible from the motorway and with ample parking everywhere, the 31 furniture shops in this industrial area undoubtedly represent the best selection of brands and products in not only the south of Tenerife, but the entire Island. And when it comes to finding that very special furniture or decoration item, there is no place better than at La Carpintería because they make most of it themselves!
La Carpintería has two shops – one in Central Santa Cruz and another one in Las Chafiras, just between the ITV garage and Iceland. From the outside it doesn’t look too much like a furniture shop, and many of us have probably never noticed it before. But when you enter their large showroom, you realize that this is an inspiring and different place to look for furniture and interior decoration.
The items are cleverly mixed together and form nice seating areas with shelves and book cases filled with big and small objects, many more interesting than the other and made out of all sorts of materials. It is like visiting that Chinese shop in the movie Gremlins, there are so many unusual and special things all around that you keep lifting everything looking for a Mogwai. There are lamps, book holders, boxes, table cloths, frames, cushions and much much more, which all look unique and as it can’t be found anywhere else.
This is actually true, it cant. La Carpintería make most of their furniture themselves, and with their advanced workshop and talented staff they produce designs, shapes and combinations which you wont find anywhere else. So message to all men: If your wife is getting on your nerves, just drop her off at La Carpintería and she wont come out for hours. Because thats how it is, walking around the shop takes ages and just when you think you have seen it all new things appear that you didn’t notice before. There are so many items, that when you visit La Carpintería you will need a bit of time.
And while the large selection of products and objects makes this shop different from the more commercially planned furniture superstores, it is the variation in price that really makes it interesting. Because as you walk around in La Carpintería, guessing prices becomes and obsession. The mix between self produced and quality brand products makes the visit even more interesting. Some of the things on offer cost a lot less than you think, which also makes this the ideal place to look for the present to those who have everything.
La Carpintería is definately one of the most intriguing and well presented furniture shops in Las Chafiras, and I would urge anyone who haven’t been there yet to go and have a look. It is worth the visit.
