As a principal and the director of interior architecture at GRAD Associates, she and her team of designers at the venerable, century-old firm have created interiors for an impressive roster of blue chip firms, first class hotels, government offices and healthcare facilities.
A 23-year resident of Boonton Township, Santiago’s accomplishments have twice earned her a place in Who’s Who in Interior Design. She has received regional and national design awards from the American Society of Interior Designers, and several of her projects have been featured in major architectural magazines. (more…)
You could say that interior designer Katharine Pooley fell into her career by accident. In 2003, she took on the task of improving the interior of her family’s holiday home in Scotland as a personal project. The following year, she repeated the task when she bought and redecorated two upmarket holiday lets: one in Thailand and the other in Colorado, in America.
It was only when friends, family and holiday guests kept pestering her about where she had found the eclectic designer accessories and furniture she had used that Pooley decided to open an interior design shop in Chelsea, west London, in October 2004, and to set up a business carrying out refurbishment projects for wealthy clients. Rick Kleponis describes his house as two-faced. There’s the street side and the water side and both with different personalities.
The street side has the traditional contemporary look of a 21st-century house. The windows are shuttered with a small front porch and stone facade around the two-car garage. It’s very prim and proper.
The waterside has what Mr. Kleponis calls a Carolina look with a wide-pillared porch, a patio apron around the pool and chairs and tables for relaxing and dining. It’s beachy and casual. (more…)
