If the Jetsons lived in a California ranch home, it might have some features like these:
Ten-foot doors that slide into the walls, opening the great room to the back deck. Windows that turn from clear glass to opaque with the click of a button. A touch-screen panel that pipes music through speakers throughout the house.
Meanwhile, robotics mop the floor, vacuum the carpets and mow the lawn, while George sips coffee and checks the stock market on what looks like a decorative ball.

After a tough day at the office or caring for youngsters, imagine slipping into a steamy whirlpool within reach of a chilled bottle of wine but close enough to feel the warmth from the gas fire pit.
That’s part of the style on display in the 2006 Lifestyle Home-A-Rama, today through June 25 at the Sagamore Golf Course and residential development at 166th Street and Union Chapel Road in Noblesville. Organized by the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis, the annual event is expected to draw crowds of 30,000 or more.
Home-A-Rama has proven so popular that the builders association has been adding a second show each year with a different theme and location.
Sagamore in Noblesville was chosen for the lifestyle edition this year because the 400-acre upscale development is designed around the 200-acre championship course by the legendary Jack Nicklaus, which gives custom builders a perfect backdrop.
“The show, on a site with some rolling landscapes and beautiful views, also proves that Noblesville has been a well-kept secret for this type of lifestyle living,” said Pete Gray, president of the builders association and a founder of Executive Homes, which built one of the show houses. (more…)
