Modern loft interior design should create a functional and comfortable floor plan with spaces for relaxation, entertaining, storage, and working. These different loft living areas can then be defined with room dividers, rugs, or furniture. Room division can take the form of sliding or folding screens, frosted glass panels, Japanese shojis, or fabric panels on ceiling tracks. When Brad and Lily Unroe first saw the home, the original oak floors were hidden under carpeting; woodwork and walls had to be repainted; and the only full bath in the house needed updating.
But the couple were attracted to the home’s period details, including the moldings and the hand-carved flourishes on the staircase, and to the neighborhood, which offered a diversity of homes as well as downtown convenience.

The 64th annual National City Home & Garden Show dedicates nine days of inspiration and expert advice to the green gardens of Ireland and innovative “green” building concepts. A 2,300 square- foot Irish castle, complete with drawbridge and solar panels, was specifically designed to celebrate the event’s dual theme.
The full-scale, modern Irish castle, designed by City Architecture and built by Energy Wise Building Systems, both of Cleveland, manages to combine energy efficiency, low environmental impact and cutting-edge technology all under one roof. (more…)
