Properties in “turnkey” condition — in top shape, ready to be lived in, with no need for cosmetic updates or more serious overhauls — are the most likely to sell at the highest possible price in the shortest possible time.
And in today’s sluggish market, with high inventory and long selling times, many sellers and agents are turning to home stagers to help them present their houses and condominiums in the best possible light.

Located in an tidy ranch within walking distance of the town center, DayDesign’s headquarters doesn’t announce itself as the epicenter of one of the design world’s most accomplished companies.
But then, that’s sort of the point. With satisfied clients like IBM, DC Comics, the Library of Congress and UTC Pratt & Whitney, DayDesign founder Skip Day doesn’t feel the need to trumpet his company’s success. Instead, he is content to let the work speak for itself.
“Our clients are very loyal,” Mr. Day said as he sat in DayDesign’s sleek conference room. “We’d never done any direct marketing or soliciting until very recently.

After what everyone on Kauai was calling 40 days and 40 nights of rain, Easter time on the Garden Island resurrected the sun — good news to both residents weary of downpours and mainlanders anxious about their summer vacations. I spent seven days and eight nights traveling around Kauai in mid-April, taking stock of what residual damage visitors might notice, and was relieved at how little there was.
Outside of Kilauea town, where a burst dam caused flooding that killed seven people March 14, the highway once again had a lane open in each direction, although signs slowed the traffic to 15 mph for a brief stretch. The ingenious Kamalani Playground and the main swimming lagoon at Lydgate Beach Park, which had been closed because of rain-related sewage overflow, were busy again with children and snorkelers, respectively. The Kauai Marriott’s sprawling pool, briefly inundated with red mud in March from a buried creek that suddenly resurfaced, was as inviting as ever. (more…)
