Try as they might to transform Toronto’s most notorious working-class ‘hood into a hipster haven (goodbye Club OV’s, hello Vice), Parkdale still feels like the wrong side of the tracks: a bustling strip of roti shops, dollar stores and fabric outlets by day, but eerily foreboding and desolate at night. That means there’s still not enough after-dark foot traffic to sustain a vast network of bars (Wroxeter, we hardly knew ye), but there are enough peculiar places here to lure those tired of the Beaconsfield Village clusterfuck under the bridge.
