Yalick Farms, being developed on 56 acres that once produced crops sold at a stand on the other side of Memorial Highway, is the first project of its kind in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Mostly residential, the “luxury condominium village,” as one partner described it, will include a clubhouse, an Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis courts and small shops.
Lead developer J. Naparlo said Yalick Farms would not be considered unusual in the Williamsburg, Va. area, where the Plymouth native now lives.
“There are projects like this down here,” he said recently; developments that include small shops with housing above or nearby.
Partner Perry Dunford, who also is the general contractor, said the first of a planned 112 townhouses will be ready for sale within weeks. A sales office will be set up in the clubhouse and initially they will be marketed directly by the developers.

While many people gravitate to a particular condominium development because of its exterior architecture or fabulous location, it is the interior design that should really be the focus.
It’s true that in this era, with the allure of hot neighborhoods running high, that is tough to do. It’s a lot more fun to daydream about socializing in the wine bar across the street or luxuriating in the spa downstairs.
But if a person is really serious about condo living, she will think much more about her actual living space than what shops, restaurants and galleries are down the street.
Because there is immense truth to the cliché that home is where the heart is, interior designers focus their work on the abode itself. Yes, the neighborhood around the home — whether single-family or condo — is important and helps drive interior design. THE phrase “bachelor pad” may evoke shag rugs, an oversize bed and an overwrought and conspicuous sound system — or perhaps for the contemporary bachelor, coolly minimalist modular seating, an oversize bed and an overwrought and inconspicuous sound system.
But two young New York bachelors, one in real estate, one a designer, have found new ways to mark their territories.
One has suspended furniture from the ceiling and steadied it with cables; even the fishbowl hangs from above. The other has placed furniture, electronics and plumbing fixtures on wheels, sometimes encased in vitrines. The devices under the sofa include a large-capacity MP3 player, a turntable, a DVD player and a karaoke machine. (more…)
